Chizu Livestock Farm

Goats

Chizu Livestock Farms is in a process of finalizing the purchase of two separate but close commercial farms in Dordabis area, Windhoek, Namibia. Each farm is about 5000 hectares. Within this land lies lushes green grasslands, hills covered in camel thorn trees and semi-desert parts. The two farms will accommodate about one thousand livestock including cattle, goats and sheep and more than 1500 wildlife species.

Livestock

Our Cattle, goats and sheep are meticulously selected, bred and cared for to produce the very highest quality meat. Through careful breeding and zealous record keeping, our cattle, goat and sheep are monitored throughout their entire life cycle to ensure fast gains, good fertility and the highest quality possible.

The basic herd on Chizu Farms will all be of full blood Katahdin hair sheep. Katahdin are hardy, adaptable, low maintenance sheep that produce superior lamb crops and lean, meaty carcasses. They do not produce a fleece therefore do not require shearing. They are medium-sized and efficient, bred for utility and for production in a variety of management systems. Ewes have exceptional mothering ability and lamb easily; lambs are born vigorous and alert. The breed is ideal for pasture lambing and grass/forage-based management systems.

Chizu Abbattoirs and Meat Processing Factory

Meat

In Namibia, the meat industry is dominated by very few major packers and processors with relationships to major foreign buyers thereby neglecting the local market that lacks large meat markets/store chains selling that stores brands of meat.

Chizu Abattoir and Meat Processing Factory will be situated on the farm. The farm has sufficient amount of clean water and power for abattoir operations. Our Meat Processing Factory will cater for international and local customers.

As an independently controlled company we are totally flexible to customer requirements and offer a diverse product range that is constantly being developed in line with consumer demand. We offer both a chilled and frozen product range - because we control the entire freezing process, we ensure the highest quality.

Chizu Livestock Farms seeks to produce high quality cattle, goat and sheep at all its farm locations. Our focus is primarily on the cow and goats calf sector of the meat business. The largest segments of our cattle, goat and sheep will be wintered and calved at our farm location, summer pasturing will be done in all the cattle, goat and sheep grazing zones.

Chizu Livestock Farms seeks to involve itself in all facets of the meat business including breeding, calving, stocking and feedlot finishing.

It is our earnest commitment to become one of the premier (cattle, goat and sheep) meat producers in Southern Africa.

We make every effort to perform our agricultural activities to not disturb the delicate balance of nature on the farm. Fields lying dormant are seeded with strips of row crops serving as food for our wildlife friends.

Cow

In cold weather, they grow a very thick winter coat, which then sheds during warm seasons. Their smooth hair coat and other adaptive characteristics allow them to tolerate heat and humidity, and when managed carefully require only minimal parasite treatment.
